# Divisibility Rule

**Divisibility Rule for 2**

Any even number can be divisible by 2. To find whether a number is even or odd, all we have to do is to check the units (ones) digit. If the units digit is even (0, 2, 4, 6, or 8), then the number is even.

5,345,564 → is divisible by 2 because 4 is even

3,345,567 → is not divisible by 2 because 7 is odd

**Divisibility Rule for 3**

If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then the integer is divisible by 3, otherwise the number is not divisible by 3.

3,927 → 3+9+2+7= 21 → Yes, divisible by 3

3,345,569 → 3+3+4+5+5+6+9= 35 → Not divisible by 3

**Divisibility Rule for 4**

If the last two-digit is divisible by 4 or if the integer is divisible by 2 twice then the number is divisible by 4.

5,345,564 → is divisible by 4 because 64 is divisible by 4

3,345,567 → is not divisible by 4 because 67 is not divisible by 4

**Divisibility Rule for 5**

If the units (ones) digit is 5 or 0, then the number is divisible by 5.

3,345 → is divisible by 5 because the last digit is 5

53,450 → is divisible by 5 because the last digit is 0

53,451 → is not divisible by 5 because the last digit is neither 5 nor 0

**Divisibility Rule for 6**

If a number is divisible by both 2 and 3, then the number is divisible by 6 (Combination of divisibility rule for 2 and 3).

108 → is divisible by 6 because the last digit is even (8) and (1+0+8)= 9 is divisible by 3

106 → is not divisible by 6 because (1+0+6)= 7 is not divisible by 3 though the last digit is even

253 → is not divisible by 6 because the last digit is odd (3) and (2+5+3)= 10 is not divisible by 3

**Divisibility Rule for 8**

If the last three-digit is divisible by 8 or if the integer is divisible by 2 three times then the number is divisible by 8.

56 → is divisible by 8 because if you divide it by 2 three times then the result is integer (56/2= 28, 28/2= 14, 14/2= 7)

98,240 → is divisible by 8 because 240 is divisible by 8

98,236 → is not divisible by 8 because 236 is not divisible by 8

**Divisibility Rule for 9**

If the sum of the digits is divisible by 9, then the integer is divisible by 9, otherwise the number is not divisible by 9.

39,276 → 3+9+2+7+6= 27 → Yes, divisible by 9

3,345,569 → 3+3+4+5+5+6+9= 35 → Not divisible by 9

**Divisibility Rule for 10**

If the units (ones) digit is 0, then the number is divisible by 10.

890 → is divisible by 10 because the last digit is 0

921 → is not divisible by 10 because the last digit is not 0.
